Pirates in all-scots league

THE Paisley Pirates will compete in an all-new Scottish Premier Hockey League with the country’s top teams next season.

The re-organised SPHL, sponsored by the sports funding organisation SPORTSassist, will see Scotland’s top five teams battle it out for the title.

The Scottish Premier Ice Hockey League (SPHL) has signed a five-figure two-year sponsorship deal with SPORTSassist, the brand new sports funding organisation.

The SPHL is a new league commencing in September, running through to April 2008.

New funding set up

THE WAY that all Dumfries and Galloway amateur sports clubs are funded is set to be revolutionised by the launch of a brand new initiative called SPORTSassist.

This initiative could mean an end to the region’s sports clubs relying on sporadic donations and erratic sponsorship deals to finance their activities.

SPHL Announce Sponsorship Deal

The Scottish Premier Hockey League (SPHL) has signed a five figure, two year sponsorship deal with SPORTSassist, the brand new sports funding organisation.

The SPHL is a new ice hockey league that commences in September 2007 and runs through to April 2008. The five top teams in Scotland - Braehead Paisley Pirates, Dundee Texol Stars, Edinburgh Capitals, Fife Flyers and Solway Sharks - will play each other twice home and away to decide the overall champions.

SPORTSassist will be the official sponsors of the League for the duration of the contract, with the tournament known as SPORTSassist Scottish Premier Hockey League.
